  3. Included in this file, along with tips for playing this game, is a brief
  4. biography on Won Liu and descriptions of his adversaries.
  5.  
  6. MASTER WON LIU 3-D is designed for playing on any 386 or better (486
  7. preferred) IBM/compatible.  It requires 500K of conventional memory and
  8. 1 Meg of Extended memory.  (If you run Windows, you probably have the
  9. Extended memory.)  For sound and music, you will need a sound card or you 
  10. can use the PC internal speaker.

  12. WHO IS MASTER WON LIU?
  13.         
  14.         His physical traits:
  15.                 Child of a Chinese woman and an unknown European (most
  16.                 likely British or Russian) man, Won Liu's medium stature
  17.                 and dark coloring allows him to blend inconspicuously into
  18.                 a group.  Only when you are presented with the challenge of
  19.                 staring into his nearly azure, blue eyes, do you realize
  20.                 the clear-headed intenseness and strength emanating 
  21.                 from his clean-shaven, pony-tailed face. 
  22.                 
  23.         His background:
  24.                 It has been 25 years since Won Liu's mother fled China with
  25.                 her baby in order to escape the persecution and slaughter
  26.                 ravaged during the Cultural Revolution on those who were
  27.                 questioningly not "pure of blood, body and thought."
  28.  
  29.                 Utilizing the advantage of the turmoil reigning in China,
  30.                 Won Liu's mother managed to slip a step ahead of the
  31.                 authorities and settled herself and her child in the "safe"
  32.                 lands of Tibet where she placed Won Liu in a monastery at
  33.                 a very early age.  At this spiritual institution, she felt,
  34.                 Won Liu would be secure in a life of quiet contemplation.
  35.  
  36.                 Won Liu thrived on his schooling.  He absorbed the teachings
  37.                 of the monks - and excelled in all areas - recognizing "the 
  38.                 sound of one hand clapping," learning to listen to the grass
  39.                 grow, contemplating the patience of the planet ... and, of
  40.                 course, he excelled in and relished the intense discipline of
  41.                 the martial arts which was taught by the older monks to their
  42.                 youthful, exuberant novices.
  43.  
  44.                 With his sharp mind and lithe, powerful body, Won Liu quickly 
  45.                 developed into the youngest noviate to be handed the coveted
  46.                 position of personal bodyguard to the High Lama - the 
  47.                 monastery's "head" monk.
  48.  
  49.         
  50.         The present:
  51.                 Won Liu has recently received word of his mother's 
  52.                 disappearance.  After intense soul-searching, he has chosen
  53.                 to depart his beloved home in an attempt to locate her.
  54.                 Pure of heart and purpose, sharply attuned to his surroundings
  55.                 he has journeyed throughout China and Tibet on his quest.
  56.                 Until a month ago when he discovered her being held prisoner
  57.                 in Hong Kong in the lair of Dr. Chang.
  58.  
  59.                 Dr. Chang - business tycoon, martial arts expert, and all-
  60.                 around evil dude, had intently absorbed the tales of Won
  61.                 Liu's progress and prowess.  With his background in 
  62.                 the martial arts, his monk-trained, clear-headed thought,
  63.                 and his peaceful, Zen-influenced soul, Won Liu is Dr. Chang's
  64.                 unwitting chosen candidate for his personal bodyguard.  Dr. 
  65.                 Chang, who is a martial arts master himself, has made many 
  66.                 enemies. Because of this, he fears for his life.  He also
  67.                 senses that employing someone of Master Won Liu's stature
  68.                 will not only aid his own ego and feed his lust for power, 
  69.                 but will cause his enemies to cringe.
  70.  
  71.                 Dr. Chang, knowing that very few events would force Won Liu
  72.                 to leave the sanctity of the monastery, has engineered the
  73.                 abduction of Won Liu's mother.  This act, Chang comprehends,
  74.                 will indeed force Won Liu into departing the security of the
  75.                 monastery to commence a search for her.
  76.  
  77.                 For the ransom of Won Liu's mother, Dr. Chang has devised
  78.                 an exchange -- Won Liu's services as a participating member
  79.                 of "Chang's Minions" -- the gang which has been terrorizing
  80.                 much of Hong Kong and Chinese enclaves the world about  --
  81.                 for his mother's release.
  82.  
  83.                 Won Liu has chosen to accept Dr. Chang's "deal" -- temporarily.
  84.                 Upon assurance of his mother's escape and her safety, Won Liu
  85.                 has rebelled against the evil Dr. Chang.  Unfortunately, Chang,
  86.                 an expert in trickery and deceit, has succeeded in trapping 
  87.                 and imprisoning Won Liu.  He will be held as a example to
  88.                 the rest of "Chang's Minions."

  90.                 Won Liu must find an escape.

  93. CHANG'S MINIONS
  94.  
  95.         Dr. Chang:
  96.                 Sly, crafty, evil -- Chang is the embodiment of nasty.  
  97.                 Directly, he controls billions of dollars and tens of thousands
  98.                 of people.  Indirectly, he influences nearly every Asian outside
  99.                 of China and Japan and a large percentage of the world's
  100.                 currency.
  101.  
  102.                 Unable to be satisfied in his greed, Chang craves more power -
  103.                 the power of money, the power of control -- and because of this
  104.                 craving, it is presumed that Dr. Chang will want to participate
  105.                 in Won Liu's capture.  Therefore, expect to encounter him in
  106.         your travels.  He will be dressed in brown, his favorite color.
  107.  
  108.                 But be aware -- he's good, very good, at being bad.  He has
  109.                 cornered the market on bad.  And he is as bad as Won Liu is
  110.                 good.
  111.  
  112.         Senior Guard:
  113.                 Outfitted in green, these opponents are Dr. Chang's "old guard."
  114.                 They are Dr. Chang's most experienced soldiers and are proven
  115.                 martial arts fighters.  Referred to as "officers," the Regular
  116.                 Guard are subordinate to them, and they will be directing the
  117.                 effort of the Regulars to keep Master Won Liu imprisoned.
  118.  
  119.         Regular Guard:
  120.                 Dressed in blue, most of these opponents are young and
  121.                 ambitious.  Although not as skilled or experienced as the
  122.                 Senior Guard, they remain a challenge because they have the
  123.                 ambition to be recognized as "Master Won Liu's executioner."
  124.                 They are quick, although somewhat untempered in their
  125.                 devotion to Dr. Chang.

  128. THE DUNGEON     
  129.         The dungeon imprisoning Won Liu is deceptive.  Constructed of stone,
  130.         the halls and rooms are seemingly strewn with wooden packing crates.
  131.         As Won Liu races toward one, it disappears and he uncovers something --
  132.         either a stone wall, a guard, food, medical supplies, a potion, or...
  133.         nothing.

  136. YOUR TASK
  137.         There is only one.  Get Won Liu out!!!
  138.         The dungeon is a maze.  Won Liu is in the middle.  Somewhere, in the
  139.         maze is the exit.  Won Liu is at your disposal and
  140.         direction.  He has two punches -- a normal one and a "power" punch.
  141.         Both use strength.

  144. HINTS AND TIPS
  145.         General:
  146.                 Punch first in order in minimalize any damage to
  147.                 Won Liu's health.  If Won Liu is "hit" it will reduce his 
  148.         Health points. When HEALTH reaches zero, Won Liu dies.
  149.  
  150.         Punching requires Strength.  If STRENGTH reaches zero, Won
  151.         Liu dies.

  153.                 Take any item found.  It will increase Won Liu's strenth 
  154.                 and health.
  155.  
  156.                 Use the Map (TAB) to keep track of Won Liu's position.
